CLEANUP

Volunteers dig in to help clean up illegal dumpsites

A HUGE thank you goes out to our local community groups who participate in clean-up projects

throughout Perry County this spring and summer!

Check out the new children's book on reuse and recycling by Perry County native, Tom Noll; Recycling Creatively with L.T. "The Bicycle Fence" .

ECO-TIPS... tips to help the Earth!

25% of our trash can be composted!

50% of our trash can be recycled!

That means we could potentially divert 75% of our trash from the landfill!

Wow! That's a lot!

Our composted waste can go back into our gardens adding nutrients

to the soil and saving us money on fertilizer costs!

By reusing, recycling & composting the right materials we help keep it out

of the landfill, plus we help turn it into something useful again!

PerCo Recycling Center accepts daily household items: aluminum cans, steel food cans

(they could be recycled into a bike part in their next life!),

#1 plastics (such as pop and water bottles) & #2 plastic (such as milk jugs and detergent bottles),

REMEMBER with plastics: look for the number inside the recycle triangle molded in plastic located near bottom of container plastic codes Borrowed from Project Green Bag, plastic recycle codes, what do they mean?

clear & brown glass bottles, corrugated brown cardboard boxes,

newspapers, magazines and white office paper.

Promote recycling!

REDUCE WHAT YOU BUY

REUSE WHAT YOU HAVE

RECYCLE WHAT YOU CAN

= RESULTS IN TRUE WASTE REDUCTION!
.

Once is not enough!

We should try to reuse products as much as possible rather than discard as waste after the first use,

i.e. give away, re-sell, use again and again...then recycle it if you can.

Keep it in the loop

Keep it in the Loop!
